There were the so-called ‘yellow dog’ democrats but they were never anything like this.

So this is why the Republicans are silent. If they had real convictions they would use them and stand with the President and their constituents who voted their sorry asses into office.

In 1992, CT had a fifth district seat that pelonged to a pro-abortion Republican, Gary Franks. Hard leftie Lynn Taborsak ran Third Party in Connecticut after her primary defeat to pro-life Democrat Judge Jim Lawlor, and ran against him more than against Franks, knowing she couldn't win, but her 15% came completely out of Lawlor's hide. The lefty Dems rightly figured out they could take out Franks later with a solid lefty Democrat, which they did in 1996.
