I got $11K from my mother in 1968. If I had hitchhiked to Pensacola and enlisted in the Navy, I could have taken leave in Europe, taken the train to Switzerland, and illegally bought 343.75 ounces of gold.
If I had left it there until gold peaked, it would have been worth...well, close to three quarters of a million.

I bought Snap Chat about a month after it came out. Paid $18/share. It went to $22 and then down to $8. It is $26.28 right now. So, If you had bought it at $8, you would be up over 300% in about a year. I would say that was an opportunity.
I also own several stocks I am losing money on right now.
