Trump policy is sometimes misunderstood. It isn't to completely isolate ourselves from the rest of the world and to 'let them deal with their problems'. It's to get involved only when American interests are at stake, and also to 'build a hyper powerful military so we never have to use it'. Diplomacy works best when it's backed by a threat of overwhelming force. American interests are very much at stake in the Indo Pacific and the two super carriers putting on a show in the South China Sea and Trump voicing support for India in a conflict with China actually *reduces* the likelihood of any conflict. Trump understands diplomacy better than anyone else.
