Well, not quite. Just no new ones being brought in
And here is what the Confederate Constitution said:
Section 9 - Limits on Congress, Bill of Rights
1. The importation of negroes of the African race from any foreign country other than the slaveholding States or Territories of the United States of America, is hereby forbidden; and Congress is required to pass such laws as shall effectually prevent the same.
2. Congress shall also have power to prohibit the introduction of slaves from any State not a member of, or Territory not belonging to, this Confederacy.
I know they were different times. But we can't change history. We should not deny history, either.
“Well, not quite. Just no new ones being brought in”
Let’s just start splitting hairs. Trade as normally understood is between nations. Commerce is normally between states.
Number 1 and 2 are also in the U. S. Constitution.
So you are saying that breeding, buying and selling humans within state boundaries is an ok thing? That is why the confederacy started.
“So you are saying that breeding, buying and selling humans within state boundaries is an ok thing?”
Are you serious? You must be a Leftist or think like a venomous Leftist, to assign that kind of slur to someone you don’t know and you certainly can’t derive that from anything I have posted.
However, Lincoln would have answered that question affirmatively.
I just read the words you wrote. You were dancing around the words 'trade' and 'commerce' to justify the slavery of the confederate slave states
Look at what you wrote:
"Lets just start splitting hairs. Trade as normally understood is between nations. Commerce is normally between states."
You somehow feel this ridiculous play on words justify the breeding, buying and selling of human lives.
And BTW, I am about 12 degrees to the right of Barry Goldwater.
“You somehow feel this ridiculous play on words justify the breeding, buying and selling of human lives.”
You are either totally lacking in any intellectual understanding, or totally insane. Probably a measure of both. Go f*uck yourself.
Brilliant response. You left out I'm a racist
Please explain how the difference in the words 'trade' and 'commerce' removes the fact that the slave states bred, bought and sold slaves. That was the reason for the Confederacy. Sure, states rights. But the right to breed, buy and sell humans doesn't align with "All men are created equal"
