Fake news.
As the New York Times reported:
Trump visa restrictions pushes U.S Professionals into more onerous tax brackets.
LOL!
Good, maybe they’ll start hiring some of the fifty year olds who were displaced by foreign hires. My experience is that many of these folks are more than happy working into their seventies, at least part time.
Good plan.
‘”There is only a finite pool of these super smart folks,” says Anthony Keizner, Partner at Odyssey Search Partners Inc.’
Lying corporatist scumbag - 99% of H-1Bs are drones with mill diplomas and fictional resumes.
I work in banking. I’ve been screaming for years that H1b is not just tech jobs. From my experience, at least 1/4 of the building at any large bank is H1b Indians. They are doing all sorts of jobs that are only tangentially related to technology. The banks typically pay them about 40% or so less than Americans - so they try to get just as many of them as they can. Its ridiculous.
What really made me angry is seeing this during the Great Recession when there were plenty of qualified Americans out there who were either unemployed or who were hugely underemployed. The screaming and crying by Banks and Tech companies that there is some big “shortage” of Americans who can do those jobs is a lie.
Not a bad idea on its face - but reaching actual full employment, as a milestone, may be like using a effective vaccine as a milestone for opening up...too many lazy Leftists who will refuse to work until we also follow the Biblical principle of “If a man will not work, he should not eat”, instead of the current policy, “Even useless blemishes on the ass of society deserve the very best of everything even if others have to pay for it”.
We aren’t talking about picking fruit. By the time it gets to the point where they actually need people to do the jobs Americans refuse to do the skilled workers who have been screwed over for years by this visa program will be working.
Hope you’re right - before the virus hit, companies had a lot of unfilled job positions...maybe pushing for a competence vs. degree mindset will help too.
