The credit cards on file can still be dinged mightily. Rental agreements reserve that right.

Just buy the overpriced insurance that the rental agency offers and it’s Ll good, so long as it’s not intentional abuse of the vehicle.

Credit card holder will cancel card tonight, say it was stolen and dispute the charge. Rental agency eats the cost and the damages to the vehicle.
