Since it didn’t burn through the favelas of Brazil or the slums of Lagos or Mumbai, I would have to say NPR is a little high on their fatality rate, even at 0.5%.
I have to believe it’s because people in those poorer areas are exposed to so many things, their immune systems are made of steel.
