This is such bull. Road/camping trips are often one of the cheapest vacation options available unless you insist on glamping or RVing.
Agree when the boys were younger it was camping or visiting relatives.
We did a 2 week trip from Memphis to Niagara Fall with only 1 motel night stay, saw most of our relatives and long time friends who had a bedroom for the night.
