As your anecdote about the murdered sister indicates, virtually all public expenditures on ‘mental health’ are directed into forensic settings. In California, at least. I’ve witnessed this both personally and professionally. Thus my brother was treated like garbage but illegal alien criminals deemed mentally ill are housed and treated to the tune of $100,000 plus per annum. But then, my brother was white so maybe that explains it.
I have already told my step son and daughter that in no-uncertain terms that they should never step foot on my property again and if they are caught in the house they will not be walking out.
Been there and done that with my 2 step children.
Don’t you love being told repeatedly that “unless they area danger to someone or themselves” they is nothing the professionals can do.
Stealing you blind, un-social behavior in school, etc., is not enough except to get them started on meds.
Yeah, well I hate to say it, but I do not feel safe around him. Hence he cannot be in my house.
I have asked judges and mental health folks. No help to be had. Perfectly legal to go around crazy as a hoot owl.
