But if you drive through you get the Charlottesville railroading. Best bet is to do a U-turn and go back the way you came. If any governor had an ounce of back-bone, they would simply announce that due to recent events (mobs attacking and shooting at vehicles (note this is not the first time they have shot drivers)), anyone blocking the road is considered an a priori threat so drivers are not obligated to stop and driver actions will be considered self-defense.

You are right. The moment you drive to where the mob is, you lose.If you muss one hair of the head of those who wish to kill or maim you, the full force of the law will descend upon you like a ton of bricks. Should they succeed in killing or maiming you, you lose.Should you be killed or maimed for life, who cares? Only your wife, husband, mother, father, children, insurance company. The insurance company cares only to the extent of how much money they will have to pay out. The Police? No.Their sympathies are with the mob. This is evidenced by mobs daily closing segments of Interstate highways and city streets also in spite of laws prohibiting such activities, dragging motorists from their vehicles and maiming them. damaging or destroying their vehicles and no action taken by the Police. unless a criminal gets their feelings hurt. Then the Police are Johnny On The Spot handcuffing the malefactor and after giving them a few lumps themselves hauling them off to jail.

When i drive on the interstate, I watch for the brake lights of vehicles far from me. When I see them start going on, I begin going through what if scenarios.
