Boogaloo was a pseudonym used by the lead singer for the Coasters (Kent Harris) when he cut some records for other labels.

Thanks for posting those links. I was heretofore unaware of Boogaloo & His Gallant Crew, an early rap group. Although they failed to chart nationally, Bo Diddley scored a hit with "Cops and Robbers" in 1957,the year after Boogaloo's version came out.
