In my opinion, when both candidates are extremely well-known, and both are below 50%, the race is really a toss-up at best.
When there is a fairly unknown challenger, under-50 for the incumbent is considered bad, because the undecideds are waiting to learn something, and generally already ‘know’ the incumbent, so they tend to break for the challenger.
But with Biden being a household name, nobody is really waiting to “learn more” about either candidate. Certainly, the undecideds are not going to get MORE NEGATIVE NEWS about Trump. The negative is built in. Whereas they well could be waiting to see if Biden can stand up and talk for more than 5 minutes without saying stupid things.
So, unless you think that October could be worse than the last 3 months, all the things that would “decide” for trump should be positive things. And Biden has nothing positive to push his numbers, unless he manages to actually do a convention speech standing up to cheering crowds, which he won’t because they are not even doing a convention.
I suppose if he picked the perfect VP he might get a bump, but I cannot imagine any of the picks he is looking at now doing more than dividing the democrats.
None of his candidates are former governors, or people with executive experience, and with everybody assuming he will go away within the first term, that will be a critical factor.
I think Ron Kind is probably safe. Like him or not, he does a good job of constituent services.
I think the best chance for an upper Midwestern pick-up would be Minnesota’s 7th District.

Since both people are totally known, undecideds will go to Trump. Trump supporters are afraid to put Trump signs in their yards - and those ‘new’ to our movement - sure aren’t going to admit to backing Trump.

All polls are BS, but it is interesting that I never saw this poll. I guess President Trump did too well in this poll.
I had an apartment there 40 years ago. It was called St. Jewish Park then. It still is today.
I’ve been a MN resident most of my life, and have been interested in politics since JFK won the state.
I can honestly say I don’t recall a Star-Tribune/Minnesota Poll that showed any Republican leading in any race at any time.
If they ever call me, I’d say “Biden, of course, gotta save the country”. When I go to vote, forgetaboutit, it will be Trump! He’s going to need a bull dozzer to get the addition crap they are going to throw at him. DC is all about making $$$$, its lobbying and inside trading to make our representatives rich. Do you really think its about the people? BS! They all have money ink on their hands. When its time to vote, think about who you are supporting. LOL, Anyone wanna bet on AOC’s current net worth?
Well, then, this poll is well within the margin for error - there seem to be a lot of errors made in the collection of the raw data.

Polls are used (in this case) to try and hurt Trump’s reelection bid.

As a Minnesota raised old goat with a gorgeous Minnesota born and raised wife, i share your opinion of the current state of the place. We both still have family in the Western part of Minnesota but haven’t lived there for 50 years. It was once a great place to grow up. Not going back but to attend funerals, unfortunately.
