Was that before or after Covid-19 entered the country?
When Covid-19 was an outbreak in China, I was not worried. I recognized its pandemic potential immediately, but it was confined to China. It simply was not a risk at the time. Even when a case appeared in the US in late January, I still did not see much to worry about; plenty of exotic diseases have been introduced to the US and were stopped by our healthcare system. Only when it started spreading in the US did it become a true threat.
I'm certain that Fauci was looking at the same dynamics that I was, and changing his assessment of the situation as it changed.
I, too, told my family that there was nothing to worry about early on. But I also was watching the situation and changing what I told them as time went by and the situation changed.
I worked in pandemic response for a portion of my career, and the habit of watching for emerging diseases never left me.
The response of the Left during this “pandemic” has been extraordinarily agenda driven. We knew fairly early on who was most at risk of the very worst consequences of the china virus which of course is death.
All we needed to do was warn those most at risk (60 yr olds and up and those with health issues) to self isolate and why they should do so. The rest of us should have been left alone and there was no way the economies of the entire world should have been distupted.
Anyone doubting this was not done intentionally has not been paying attention.
