My point is, your argument against infrastructure spending didn’t help carry Trump to victory in the industrial Midwest. His promise FOR infrastructure spending DID. You can argue against Trumps MAGA platform,
as a matter of policy, till the cows come home, but Trump won on it and he’ll have a harder time with re-election because he didn’t follow through on it

I suspect you didn’t support Trump in the primaries since you don’t seem comfortable with some of his key MAGA messages. But that’s a debate for another day.

On the whole, I was split between Cruz and Trump. But I was comfortable with both*. The thing with politics is you choose the best you can get, and the individual voter has as much control as he does over the weather. I thought Trump was a liberal and a squish on foreign policy, but voted for him anyway because Hillary was even more left-wing. I am glad that Trump is neither a liberal nor a foreign policy squish.

* I’d have voted for any GOP candidate over Hillary. There are segments of the Trump base that would only have voted for Trump. But there are segments of the Hillary vote that would have voted for any GOP candidate but Trump. Their objections aren’t ideological - they’re just snobs. I’m OK with that. My guy (the anointed GOP candidate) won, and that’s all that matters.
