“ The Iraq war was fine”

Yes, ousting Iran’s no 1 enemy was fine, actually great - for Iran

And invading a country based on false belief or lies about WMDs was fine

And destroying a country’s social and political infrastructure, and allowing shiite jihadis (who had been kept under foot by Saddam) to run wild and genocide the country’s Christians, was fine

“”Trump hits Bush: Invading Iraq ‘the single worst decision ever made’“”
The Hill —
March 03, 2018

President Trump blasted former President George W. Bush on Saturday over the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, calling it “the single worst decision ever made.”

Speaking at a closed-door event with Republican donors in Florida, Trump mocked Bush’s intellect and compared his decision to invade Iraq to “throwing a big fat brick into a hornet’s nest.”

“Here we are, like the dummies of the world, because we had bad politicians running our country for a long time,” Trump said, according to CNN, which obtained a recording of the president’s remarks.

“That was Bush. Another real genius. That was Bush,” Trump joked. “That turned out to be wonderful intelligence. Great intelligence agency there.”

The fact that we whupped Iraq's @$$ is indeed fine for Iran. It demonstrated to them that we could and would whip their @$$ too if they gave us cause to do so.

Much good in the way of national security was accomplished by demonstrating that we would indeed f*** people up if they pissed us off.

And invading a country based on false belief or lies about WMDs was fine

Disagree. Saddam moved his stuff to Syria. There was plenty of evidence at the time to show what was going on, but the lying media liberals kept repeating the lie that there were no WMD there in Iraq, and refused to report the fact that most of this material had been moved into Syria.

Apart from that, the good done by showing American resolve more than makes up for any problems caused supposed intel failures. So even if it was correct that there were no WMD, it was still worth it.

And destroying a country’s social and political infrastructure, and allowing shiite jihadis (who had been kept under foot by Saddam) to run wild and genocide the country’s Christians, was fine

If you would have actually paid attention to what I wrote in the message to which you are responding, you would have noticed I said the war was fine, it was what happened after the war that was a total disaster.

Bush and Bremmer threw away much of the gain we had acquired from winning the war by trying to make too many social changes to Iraq. He should have stayed away from tampering in their domestic politics.

I agree the Sunnis were smarter and less troublesome than the Shias, and we should have left the existing system alone. It was none of our business, and we should have not tried to impose our own foolish doctrines of "equality" on a Muslim Arab culture.

Had we simply left that stuff alone, we wouldn't have had the insurgency. We deliberately created the conditions that made the Sunni members of Iraq want to kill us and drive us out, and the Sunni were by far the most dangerous group in Iraq.

Bremmer and Bush totally f***ed up the aftermath of the war.
