I’d say we have to assume the Washington Post believes it’s readers are incapable of reading graphs and charts. Either that or WP readers are just lazy and stupid and read the headlines only.

The Daily Caller article spelled the word "God" in the usual way.
The poster, "BeauBo", is probably an Orthodox Jew, who out of reverence for God omit the vowels, as in "YWHW" instead of "Yahweh".
His name is composed of four Hebrew consonants (YHWH, known as the Tetragrammaton). Orthodox Jews carry over this practice to the English word, "God", which they often spell "G-D" .
Rather than denying the Almighty, they are showing extra reverence for His Name.
