So the council’s vote is all political theater anyway.

I thought that if city’s PD was abolished the burden for enforcing the law would fall to the county.

Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office wants no part of it. Believe it or not Hennepin County deputies have a very low opinion of the Minneapolis Police Department.

It might be better to let it go to a vote of the people.

Right now the charter requires a police department. This vote was the first step to removing that clause.
