Mr. Regan, a Republican, said in an interview with The Hill on Thursday that his daughter’s denunciations were unsurprising and implied she had been brainwashed at university.
“A lot of students when they go off to these liberal university campuses … she went to the University of Colorado in Boulder — and you know, they just kind of get sucked into this Marxist, communist ideology and she and I just don’t see eye to eye when it comes to the whole socialism, communism, Marxist philosophy,” he said.
He told the Hill that “her big thing has to do with the systemic racism,” an idea he also said “I don’t buy into” at all.

Had she worked in the real world instead of studying in a treason factory, she would have quickly learned that a pleasant attitude earns more tips, and she could have been a great waitress.

In 1991, my first year at Georgia Tech (after one at UF), the dorm RA asked us to come to the meeting room for a conversation about race. Ok great.
We get down there and this dude in military fatigues starts ranting about the inherent privilege white people have in the world. He’s getting angrier and angrier.
The crux of his argument was “your families have had generations to build wealth and connections in this country as free men. And your families benefited from slavery and slave wages to give you the privilege you have.”
I raised my hand. I said “my great grandparents came to this country with literally nothing from Italy and Sicily. Both of my grandfathers dropped out of school before they were 13 to work and support their families. One pulled a fruit cart around Chicago to make money, eventually got a fruit truck, and then built himself a meat distribution business. The other worked for one of the baby bells and became an engineer without a degree. All of this happened after 1900. How exactly did any of the mass immigration families receive this White privilege? In Chicago, Boston and NYC Italians were hated by the cops and cordoned into ghettos. And I know my Jewish stepfathers families have similar stories. They worked hard for what they got.”
And I left. The RA wrote me up for not attending a mandatory event.
Surprising that this was already rampant 30 years ago.
