A progressive Minneapolis neighborhood that pledged not to call the police in the wake of the death of George Floyd is now dealing with a 300-strong homeless encampment in a local park,
Traffic has reportedly increased in the neighborhood around Powderhorn Park, as drug dealers seek to meet their clientele displaced during the civil unrest, rioting and looting following Floyds death at the end of May. At least one person overdosed inside the park and was brought out by an ambulance. Prostitution has also been reported in the area.
Residents though have agreed to check their privilege and protect people of color by not involving law enforcement to report instances of property damage, according to the New York Times.
Keeping the promise not to call the police has proven more difficult than imagined, as some residents have avoided the park altogether after being catcalled and are fearing for their childrens safety. Others said they had trouble sleeping at night, fearing campers would force their way into their homes.
Im not being judgmental, Carrie Nightshade, 44, told the Times, explaining she no longer allows her children, 12 and 9, to play in the park by themselves. Its not personal. Its just not safe.
Another resident, Mitchell Erickson, said he regretted calling 911 when two black teenagers cornered him a block away from his home, held a gun to his chest and demanded his car keys. Erickson said he mistakenly handed over his house keys, and the frustrated teens left him only to steal another car a few blocks away.
Been thinking more about it, Erickson said in a text message to a reporter. I regret calling the police. It was my instinct but I wish it hadnt been. I put those boys in danger of death by calling the cops.

My theory is that the Chi-coms have been lacing our public water systems with crazy pills!!
Good theory - would make a great novel too.
I know. Whitey is expected to not call police on non-Whitey for any reason.
Mr Erickson:
Make your own funeral arrangements.
You won’t last much longer.
Displaced college students and they all look depressed.
True!

1) People who generally do the right thing no matter what.
2) People who will do the wrong thing no mo matter what.
3) People who only do the right thing because they do not want the consequences of doing the wrong thing.
Two thirds of the kinds of people demand that we have a force of police to maintain peace and order. Idiots refuse to recognize this standard fact of life.
They’ve been doing it in Europe for years with their invaders. Rolling out the red carpet for them.
The guy in the Minneapolis MN story reminded me of this English skit:
What was a joke is a definite reality with the stupidity we see the Western world over.
Mitchell Erickson must have an IQ lower than the late Rodney “Can’t we all just get along” King. Definitely a candidate for both the Darwin Award and the A-hole of the Day Award.
Who is supplying all of those nice looking expensive tents?
That’s absolutely insane. It’s like they have no sense of self-preservation.
The guy is so brainwashed and demoralized he’d probably have an answer for it.
Once again proving Rush correct in noting liberalism is a mental disease.
Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it, with a little more to boot.
Of course it's personal. She's got addicts and who knows what else camping in a neighborhood park her kids normally play at.
You say that like it's a bad thing. White liberals volunteering to die. Before election day.
