The headline does not match what is reported in the story. Plainly, the hospitals are not overwhelmed, and are not close to it.

I think people are being tested before they are admitted to the hospital and a positive result then becomes the reason for the admission even if there are no outward symptoms or danger of a severe course.

I’m here in Texas and don’t feel whelmed, much less over whelmed.
___________________________________________________________

The only whelm blowed through here recently concerned a discussion as to if Texas gov will side with the MailVoteFraud crowd and command another lockdown or not. “Whelm, we ain’t sure yet which way he’ll fall”.

Must be something in the water around Austin and all the bluestate transplants.

The actual in-hospital lab tests seem to have it nailed down pretty well at this point, at least around here.

Keep in mind that a lot of the ‘false positives’ aren’t - they’re people that had no symptoms while the disease ran its full course.

We have also been seeing false positives or multiple results from tests. Therefore the reliability of the test methods are being called into question.

This is why I’m not tracking general hospital admittance much - only ICU admittances for lab-confirmed COVID-19 and the stay for same, plus the deaths.

I know about folks being asymptomatic and I lost my aunt to this back in April so I am not insensitive to this. But I have seen enough questionable things happen to be highly skeptical of the practices we have been witness to.

“The Masks”. “We” have no clue if they are affective.”

Sure, we do.

There is plenty of evidence face masks reduce the spread of respiratory disease.
Plenty of evidence backs this up from different countries, time periods and diseases.

“Each day I’ve been going into work over the last month is worse, and what I mean by worse is ... just overwhelmed with COVID patients,” said Dr. Frank LoVecchio, who works in several Arizona hospitals in emergency medicine and public health.

Never forget. Medicine has been politicized. The recent support for the protests and rioters shows that they also have an agenda that cause way beyond concern for public health.

Its baloney. More cases, NOT more hospitalizations. People are testing positive with almost no symptoms, but media wants a big panic. Abbot better not shut down again. Texans are so over this house arrest time!

No under 25 has died from covid in Florida? That is pretty shocking, but is pretty much in line with what I have been reading about the virus in general. Do you happen to have a link for that, I want to post it on a social media site.

All three states have Republican administrations and the data comes from their Health Departments. For example, in Arizona: “Inpatient beds, ICU beds, ventilators in use and emergency department visits for suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients all hit their highest-ever numbers Sunday, according to hospital data released by the Arizona Department of Health Services Monday.

The highest jump came in inpatient beds, with 1,992 beds occupied by suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients Sunday, compared with 1,942 Saturday.

As of Sunday, 82% of current inpatient beds and 84% of ICU beds were in use for COVID-19 and other patients.

More than 1,000 new cases have been reported on each of the past 13 days, with more than 2,000 new cases reported on each of the past five days, according to state data. While increased testing over the past month has contributed to an increase in numbers, the percentage of those tests coming back positive has spiked sharply since mid-May, indicating a sharp increase in community spread.”

I know for a fact that everyone who is admitted to the ER is tested for the Wuhan so I would guess that everyone who is admitted or has any sort of test is also checked.

I’m not seeing more bad cases on our level.

“There was a surge in the number of inpatient beds occupied... with 2,136 beds occupied, compared to 1,992 Sunday,...
Meanwhile, 84 percent of intensive care unit beds were in use at Arizona hospitals and 83 percent of inpatient beds were in use as of Monday,”

ICU usage up 1% and 144 more hospital beds being used. I don’t think the author knows what SURGE means.

What’s the normal fill rate for the ICU? What’s the normal bed occupancy for the same?

Maybe it’s like this??

Brazilian Parliament Members Break into Hospital that Claimed to have 5,000 Infected and 200 Deaths

.....According to the Brazilian scientist Miguel Nicolelis:

“My concern is that Brazil is going to be a new epicenter of COVID-19. Despite the very serious problems in the U.S., the exponential curve of cases and deaths in Brazil suggests we are not even close to our peak yet.”

However, the president of Brazil does not believe this and claimed that the current Covid-19 death tally “has been inflated”. So instead, he told his supporters through his Facebook live broadcast:

“If there is a field hospital or public hospital near you, find a way to get in there and film it. Lots of people are doing this and more need to do it to show whether the beds are in use or not.”

He also added:

“Governors get political gain from this. That’s the only thing it could be. They take advantage of people who die for political gain, and to blame the federal government.”

I am sure you can find more. This is a crappy CNN article, but it does mention that in the of Florida no one under 25 died. They do mention that possibly (not conclusive) that 2 might have died nationally (out of 330,000,000 plus). Might want to find a less bias source.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/09/politics/florida-ron-desantis-false-claim-coronavirus/index.html

While there are no reported deaths of victims under the age of 25 in Florida, the state has been hit hard by the virus.

It is only logical that there will be a sharp increase in community spread after a total lock down. That does not necessarily mean that fatalities will increase. Instead it could be leading to herd immunity.
