IT people refuse to accept that IT - as a discipline - has become just another commodity. As an ancillary skill for tactical use by professionals in other fields, it still has value. As a career specialty, most IT work has become too commoditized to pay enough to support an educated American.

If you just code, yes.

But the key is to be a coder who is also a business analyst and project manager. Companies pretty much have streamlined where now it’s expected a coder to wear many hats. And that’s where differentiation comes in.

BS. You can say that about any profession as matter of fact the medical profession is being target. See any many young American doctors lately? I have, a tiny few.
