The summer I turned 19 (1964) five of us East Tennessee Satte college freshmen piled into a VW Bus and headed across country to work in the bean canneries up in Washington state. we were all white, I think. Didn’t pay much attention to race back then, we all needed the money for college.

Many white people worked in fields (no pun intended lol) and the left spins that right out of history.

My first job was a paperboy, and my father and grandfather were too, them in Iowa, me Pasadena, CA and when an adult in the santa cruz area, specifically Scotts Valley, an area known to be quite conservative.

When in High school I pushed the family lawn mower around my suburban neighborhood and made money that way.
