Private security aren’t invincible, and they can be overwhelmed potentially when you don’t have a degree of deterrence from regular police and the gangs can grow. Being isolated down to a compound isn’t a good idea, strategically speaking.
Also, private security may usually provide protection in your home compound, but it doesn’t travel with you when you’re out and about... shopping, sightseeing, etc. Unless, of course, you’re so rich that you have a private gang of bodyguards with you at all times. And that is somewhat limiting in terms of your interaction with the world, too.
If I was private security, I would be in it for the money. My loyalty to the employer would only go so far as my paycheck. If I saw imminent defeat, adios!

If a big mob showed up to loot George Clooney’s house and you were his security guard, would you try to fight off the mob on George’s behalf? In a case like that, security may have a plan to evacuate the person(s) they are guarding, i.e., bug out.
I wonder how people would feel if security guards actually shoot and kill people in a mob?

I have friends and family with full time private security staff—formers seals, delta, etc and those guys are absolutely loyal and unwavering—I guess it’s ingrained but they seem to take their contracts and commitments very seriously
Um, no.
They are "beholden" to the rule of law.
If the mob attacks them, and they fight back, they too will be just a susceptible to liberal politicians and liberal judges throwing the book at them and letting the actual criminals go free.
IDK, some exceptions such as James Woods actually exist. He certainly seems smarter than most in his field of being an actor if his Twitter feed is any indicator.
