My ultra conservative Southern Baptist grandmother wore maroon to her second husband’s funeral. Never could figure it out. I was only allowed to get my ears pierced at 16 and could only wear light pink nail polish. It was like she got old and said “I will do what I want” and she wanted to wear maroon to his funeral.
