Israel, too, has a deep state and many left-wing loonies. They can easily get on the islamist payroll as insurgents in their own land. The Knesset has had to deal with liberal whiners who think Israel is “too Jewish” and want to drive the voices of Othodox rabbis out of public discourse, same as the pro- secularist fights here. And let’s not forget that many of the early waves of re-settlers came in from Eastern Bloc Soviet nations that had suppressed Jewish culture entirely.
