It’s the same thing here when a shooter shoots up a school, mall or a theater, the media always wants to know “what was his motive? Why oh why did he do this?”

In the famous words of a former presidential candidate, “ at this point, what difference does it make?”

If you Mr. Newsman were to find or theorize a motive, would you say “now we understand why this guy shot and killed 25 people and wounded 30 others. It’s because his mom didn’t get him any toys for Christmas, 30 years ago. We all feel better, now, knowing this.”

It's sad to read stories like this when the motive is obvious and plain but the author, the police, the governing authorities are forced by constraints of political correctness to act as if they don't know the reasons behind such madness.

Playing stupid is pretty common thing these days and it's going to get a lot more people hurt and killed.

As a now-retired investigating officer for my Dept. of Corrections unit, I remember the what-where-when-how rule. “Why” wasn’t a part of it. Who cares why a person robs a bank? Were they hungry, were they tired of being broke, did they get a thrill out of it, were they on drugs, under the bad influence of another person? That only really matters to the defense attorney who will make a big sob story out of it for the jury.
