Never been to a NASCAR race. Never really watched much of one on TV.
Serious question for those who have:
Outside the track and/or in the infield, are there really many Confederate flags flying on race day?
Is it that obvious?
Or was the ban just feel good virtue signalling by NASCAR?

Flag has not flown for years inside a track.

Probably not, but I do remember when I was a kid the first time we drove to FL from NY in the 70s. I-95 wasn't fully completed yet so we drove down US 301 through much of the Carolinas and Georgia. Once in a great while you'd see a Confederate flag in front of someone's house, but other than the cemeteries where Confederate soldiers are buried and the tourist traps, not too often.
