Hey, Ms. Cortez (Hope I’m remembering her name correctly)...do you think these kids who apparently adore you would actually have the energy to put down the bong, get up off the couch and actually vote for you?

If you think so, you’re dreaming.

My two children are 21 and almost 25. Neither takes drugs (I know that for a fact). I said to both, “You guys should register in Colorado; that’s where you were born!”

Neither did. I asked why and they basically said, “I don’t care about politics. They’re all the same anyway.”

Well, I couldn’t disagree much that Reps and Dems often seem to be walking just to the right and left, inches away, of the same line, but I said, “You should care though. These people make decisions that will affect your lives.”

I guess I’m spoiled because I followed my father’s advice, when I had just turned 18 before the election in 1980; I asked him for whom I should vote and he said, “Ronald Reagan.”

I guess what I’m trying to say is that young people today are cynical. They might talk a big game on social media, but that doesn’t mean they will actually move their bodies and make it to a poll booth.

So all those politicians counting on the youth vote, good luck.

Except for young people who want to vote for Trump. I’m serious about that. They have to endure the scorn of their peers if they’re open about their choice, and somewhere, I think they realize that President Trump is a transformational leader.
