India redraws its rules to engage China on border

India has reset the rules of engagement with Chinese troops along the entire stretch of their 3,488km long border, with the Indian Army now given a free hand to deal with any provocation by China.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday approved the new tactical approach in a meeting he held on Sunday with Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat and the three service chiefs, a person familiar with the development said.

“The commanders at LAC (line of actual control) can now give troops complete freedom of action to handle situations at the tactical level," the person said, on condition of anonymity.

The Indian Army has been given the freedom to deal suitably with any aggression by China along the LAC, this person said.

The tactical approach may include staggered movement of patrols in key areas of the LAC, besides holding some high positions to give Indian troops an advantage.

Although no details were immediately available, experts said this could mean Indian soldiers being set free from the letter of the 1996 agreement that barred the two sides from using firearms.

Commenting on the move, former army chief Gen. V.P. Malik said, “I am glad the rules of engagement have been changed. They needed to be changed given the way China has been acting in the past few years. This will allow the troops to fire in self-defence if necessary."

How many died in 1962. Was it 80? Bubble gum. Show me some rock n’ roll.

They are both our economic enemies. Let’s hope this ties them up for a long time and costs tens of billions.

My Sikh co-worker said that Indian animosity towards us(cold war) had to do with our support of Pakistan. Could be true but i think it has to do with their hatred of the Brits. We’re their cousins.

Indians hate and despise us. Always have. Full stop. Both Indians and the Communist Chinese think they are superior beings. They are both the most racist people on the planet.

Time to send both Indians and Communist Chinese back to their respective shitholes and lock the door.

They want to fight? Let them. Not our problem, and it will reduce the population of two of the most over-polluted toilets on the planet.

Much more complicated...WWII was coming to an end. Brits had lost control of India. The Soviets had become a major threat. Eishenower asked Churchill to see if India would let the US fly spy missions from north India.

India said no way...after 200 years of occupation, it was time for the Brits to leave. After that, the Brits and the USA started funding the Muslim league. Their leader, while in the UK, has promised a base for US spy planes. Jinnah, Pakistan’s founder got funding, and the UK created Pakistan for the US. That partition cost over 15 million lives.

Pakistan now is the gift that keeps on giving. They are our creation.

It’s even more complicated, Jinnah the Pakistan independence leader ( Who hated Ghandi. Viewed him as a pious fraud !) was completely secular, an atheist in fact though enough of an opportunist or pragmatist to know that Hindu & Muslim couldn’t coexist peacefully in one state. There had to be a Muslim state separated from a Hindu state. He gave Pakistan a secular constitution Eventhough I’ve been told that Pakistan means land of the faithful in Pashtun. Like I said he was ever the opportunist. As long as he was alive the state of Pakistan sort of barely functioned.

Even more interesting is that none of his family followed him to Pakistan. They stayed back in Bombay. Jinnah never sold his house in Bombay. He was all about the money...and the US and Brits gave him lots of it...

Hers another interesting fact. So prior to granting India independence, Britain had to carve out Pakistan. Most people don’t know that another country was created and granted independence before either India or Pakistan.

Three months before the formation of Pakistan, Muhammed Ali Jinnah had negotiated the freedom of Baluchistan under Kalat from the British. Jinnah had demanded payment in weight of his body in gold for that negotiation.

As soon as Pakistan was formed, Jinnah invaded Baluchistan and claimed it and killed the Kalat.

Another interesting fact...the Brits knew Jinnah was dying. He had TB. Mountbatten, who was governer general of India, asked Gandhi to put of Independence for a year. That way Jinnah was out of the picture, and Pakistan would just be a memory. Gandhi said no. Rest is history.

And yes, Jinnah was Muslim in name only. He didn’t even own a Koran. He never went to Mosque. His children who are now in India don’t practice Islam. His sister disowned him...she recently died in Bombay.
