Joe Concha says Biden campaign wants handpicked questions, no challenges from reporter

Joe Concha, media reporter for The Hill, said on Friday that the only time presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has been challenged by the media was when urban hip-hop host Charlamagne Tha God addressed matters on race relations.

“The bottom line is that Joe Biden is in the business of handpicked questions from handpicked outlets from safe situations,” Concha told “Fox & Friends.”

Concha said that after Biden’s interview with Charlamagne Tha God on "The Breakfast Club" did “not go well,” the former vice president’s campaign staff wants to avoid that from happening again.

Very few Vice Presidents have successfully been elected immediately after their President--just Thomas Jefferson, Martin Van Buren, and George H.W. Bush. Jefferson's election was before the system was modified by the 12th amendment. Van Buren and Bush won because of the popularity of the incumbent President. The other Vice Presidents who have become President did so because the President died in office, apart from Richard Nixon.

Nixon lost to JFK in 1960 after serving 8 years as Essenhower’s VP and then won 8 years later in 1968.
Ford became president after Angew then Nixon resigned.
Gore lost to Bush and Biden didn't run in 2016.

I should have specified that Ford succeeded when Nixon resigned (the only time a President has done so). Agnew resigned the Vice Presidency in 1973 so Ford had been VP for the better part of a year when Nixon resigned. Some of the Democrats in the House wanted to prevent him from being confirmed so that Carl Albert would succeed Nixon.
