Trump made a big deal about this issue. This poll shows that Americans listened to what he had to say, that keeping the base names would respect the soldiers who served out of these bases before going into combat.

56% are for keeping the names. I think most don’t realize who these people were. As a retired Soldier and someone who mobilized out of Fort Bragg (and white), I am all for changing the names. These people took up arms against America and therefore were traitors. On top of that most, especially Braxton Bragg, were horrible generals. Actually, they were all horrible generals because their side lost.

I’d like to see these bases renamed after Americans who weren’t traitors and were either winning generals or medal of honor awardees. Here are my suggestions;
1) Fort John Pershing
2) Fort Dwight Eisenhower
3) Fort Ulysses S. Grant (I find it ridiculous that we have a fort named after Lee who was a traitor and not for the man that defeated him and saved America)
4)Fort Roy Benavidez (Medal of Honor awardee)
5)Fort William Henry Carney (Medal of Honor awardee)

I think all Americans can get behind these names.
