There is no crime of "domestic terrorism", so a "designation" has no great impact. The FBI does maintain a list, also a list of wanted domestic terrorists. However prosecution falls under existing state and federal laws. Which could include conspiracy and RICO. Foreign terror groups are designated by the State Dept, and supporting them does carry criminal penalties. Distinct violations because foreign groups are beyond the reach of US law enforcement.
That said, I'm not aware of any cases related to the disturbances of the last few weeks. Hopefully that will change.

In other words there is no political will to do anything about it.
In a way I can understand why these anarchists and looters keep pushing the envelope. They don’t sense much in the way of strength or resistance. All they see is weakness and appeasement. So why stop?

Yeah, its amazing that so many think that DOJ walk down the street arresting people. I didnt know Attorney General was a cop. I guess since the FBI is not doing anything, some other agency has to pick up the slack.
