More Irish Americans have fought and spelled blood in the Civil, WW1 & WW2 than any other nationality. They were/are our cops, firemen. priests and pub owners most I know like me are conservatives ( the old country has always been screwed up )

Exactly! All the good ones came over here. That's probably why the old country is being run into the ground.

That’s a good point, and could be applied to many countries around the world (especially in Europe, with earlier, less-restricted immigration); much of the top talent came here, while those tolerating the conditions there stayed.
