Every cop in America should go on strike indefinitely

I have been tasered twice. Not because I was breaking the law or anything malicious but it was a part of my training.

Tasers are classed as non lethal but in the hands of someone who is not trained then it can be lethal. Two prongs shoot out and in this case it just went above his head.

Now imagine those prongs going into his eye or parts of the face now it is lethal

I would bet he will choose to be tried by a judge like the Freddie Gray cops, though I’m not sure being tried by a Fulton Co judge will be any better than a jury.

The bar for murder is HIGH. Not even close in this case. Not even for lesser charges.

The guy resisted arrest, stole a taser and attempted to fire at the officers, shooting him was justified.

Good luck to Atlanta staffing their police department after this.

“Shooting someone in the back is unjustified, unless they were charging at someone with the intent to maim/kill”

3:24 mark, explains how shooting someone in the back can happen. It’s all reaction time.

They will have trouble getting this conviction. An acquittal will mean more rioting.

Don’t doubt that’s the plan.

You shoot at me with a firearm, I return fire. A taser and my partner is nearby, no. I let you go. Real simple.

The shooting was justified plain and simple. You fell for the medias talking point of he was shot in the back crap. Next you will say there was a shot in a parked car.

They are overcharging the second officer so he will testify on behalf of the state and say anything they ask him to. He knows if he doesn’t they will destroy his life.

My thoughts exactly.

I watched the video as well and listened to the press conference today. The DA says one of the charges against the officer was because he didn’t inform Brooks he was being arrested for DUI.

IIRC, he did tell Brooks he thought he was in no condition to drive and asked him to place his hands behind his back, I doubt he didn’t have the opportunity to tell Brooks officially he was under arrest before Brooks went off.

The officer screwed up when he supposedly kicked Brooks after he shot him and he was lying on the ground. There is supposedly video evidence of that act. If that is true, then Rolfe has some problems.

I think the DA overcharged this so he can take it to court and if Rolfe is acquitted on anything, he can point to the jury and say “not my fault”.

I agree, he’ll I think the shooting was easily justifiable, just don’t ever think juries will work in your favor all the time

A judge had to sign off on the warrants. Who is he/she?

First I heard he had a warrant. I thought he was released on probation due to the pandemic. Let me check.......no warrant. He was on probation.

You can't arrest on DUI unless there is a test. I would not have tested if there was a family member willing to pick him up. Officers do have that discretion, happens all the time.

Now if he was pulled over in traffic and loaded.....he's going to the pokey. Again, that is what I would have done, having being trained by federal standards (Diplomatic Security) of arrest and application of deadly force; but it's been a long, long time.
