Seattle police chief says no part of city is 'cop-free' after business owner's complaint
“There is no cop-free zone in the city of Seattle,” Best said. “I think that the picture has been painted in many areas that shows the city is under siege. That is not the case.”
Best was referring to the Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP), previously called the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ), a six-block area near downtown Seattle that includes a police precinct that was abandoned amid escalating tensions with George Floyd protesters.
John McDermott, who owns an auto shop just outside of the CHOP, told KIRO-TV a protester broke into his store, stole money from his cash register and tried to set fire to the building. The owner's son said he detained the suspect.
“I chased him down and as soon as I came face to face, he came at me so I put him on the ground,” McDermott’s son, Mason, told the station. He said the suspect also tried to cut him with a box cutter.
John McDermott said he called the police a total of 19 times to no avail.

That store owner called for help over a dozen times while he was holding on to a burglar. He was told no officer would be showing up. He had to release the crook. That sounds ‘Cop Free’ to me.
They need a new chief. I don’t think she knows how to get this done. I don’t think her cops have a lot of faith in her.

I bet if sometime strolled into Chaz and started shooting warlords and communists, we would see cops coming from everywhere to help Chaz. Decide a day or two and some man was attacked by the protesters. He shot a protester and the cops swarmed in to protect the “peaceful protesters”. Only the man who was attacked by a knife and weapon armed mob was arrested. None of the communists were.
And after it all he will still vote Democrat.

CHOP sounds like a cultural misappropriation . . .
I bet that if the owner’s son had knee capped the SOB before releasing him the cops and a half dozen MSM camera crews would have all shown up in short order.
If they found a way to get rid of this chief, you just know she would go all “Stacey Abrams” and say, “Legally, I’m still the Chief. The department broke the law taking away my title!”
She would repeat this mantra forevermore.

She’s lost control of the police and emt’s as to what they are willing to respond to and where. It’s not a matter of “cop free” as she’s saying.
One business person called police and were told outright they were not coming into the Crop Zone area.
That’s likely true.....but the owner is a fool to think cops are going into that zone. It’s going to continue to deteriate there so those not a part of that need to close up and get out.
Hind sight being what it is, should have had the foresight to allow the yute to break a few bones as he fell when first apprehended.
