The place was quite cold. Can that render guns inoperative? I did read without lubrication for their guns when the Germans faced winter the first time in Russia that sort of happened.

Cold? How Dare You. Nothing is cold anymore and there are no glah-see-rs either. Just ask grrrrreta. Surprised no one has called her in to help settle the dispute. After all, she apparently knows EVERYTHING. But yeah, some lubes get sluggish when it’s chilly.
