Imran Ahmed

Chief Executive Officer

Imran Ahmed founded CCDH in December 2017. He frequently appears in the media as an expert in online malignant behaviour (identity-based hate; misinformation; extremism; fake news; trolling; and social media). Imran is a trustee of the charity, Victim Support. He was appointed to the Steering Committee of the UK Government's Commission on Countering Extremism Pilot Task Force in April 2020. Imran holds an MA in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and tweets at @imi_ahmed

Our Funders

The Center for Countering Digital Hate is a not-for-profit non governmental organisation (NGO) that is funded by philanthropic trusts and members of the public. If you or your organisation wish to help fund our cause, please contact us.

Alas, Ahmed was not quite able to erase all mention of his own online existence during this vacuum, thanks in no small part to the vigilance of Wirral In It Together, a blog which covered the events surrounding #Brickgate, which coincided with Angela Eagle’s ill-fated leadership attempt during the last Labour coup. Given the contentiousness of the events that happened at this time, I would understand if Ahmed saw fit to delete his exchanges with members of Wallasey Constituency Labour Party, which Labour’s National Executive Committee suspended in the wake of #Brickgate, especially as these exchanges might question his suitability for his current role. . .It would appear that Ahmed has tried to erase his previous attempt to bring Corbyn down three years ago. Now he is collaborating with the likes of Rachel Riley in order to achieve this particular end under the guise of ‘online safety’, which is akin to Herod taking charge of a nursery given her Twitter activity and her alliance with a movement not immune to its own brand of abuse. . .: Seen But Not Herod: The man behind the CCDH

The main source used by Suki for his article is, bizarrely, the Center for Countering Digital Hate (and yes, although it is based in East Finchley, London, it uses the American spelling of what should, in the UK, be “Centre”). This organisation previously came into prominence for its role in the Labour Party “anti-semitism” controversy and its patron is Rachel Riley, the pro-Israel TV presenter who famously pointed the finger at Jeremy Corbyn. Its CEO, Imran Ahmed, used to work as a spin doctor for Labour Party politician Angela Eagle. Coronavirus thoughtcrime
