I was talking to an RN from AZ today and she told me hospitals are full, the virus IS the reason, that we should be alarmed.
I don’t know what to believe.
The military has a meme that you have to have the big picture. People in the trenches usually are not very good at that. One hospital, or one ward, can be real busy and the folks working that unit think the world is coming to an end. No offense but the opinion of one nurse about the whole state is pretty meaningless.
If you dig into Horowitz’ report, the data (from the official website) is broken down and explained.
Yes, there are a good share of hospitalizations, but few are BECAUSE of Covid, but many come in WITH Covid. Big difference. It’s all explained.
The health care professionals are petitioning the Gov. here for greater cautions, policies.

From the Arizona Department Health Services.
In Yavapai County (Prescott, Prescott Valley, Sedona, etc.) there are 7 current hospitalizations due to COVID-19. That’s among 235,000 residents and three hospitals with about 350 total beds.
Talked to my nurse neighbor yesterday that said hospitals here still are empty in the D.C. suburbs.
First, find out if shes a Democrat. Then if shes a Republican or Independent, find out if shes a Fearbro.
If the hospitals are full, it’s because no one BUT COVID-19 patients could be admitted for their procedures for months.
Her mileage may vary, however. But my social media is full of people with non-COVID diseases and various injuries who are finally able to get some treatment.
Texas had a slight upturn in COVID-19 hospitalizations, but no similar increase with ICU bed use, so its all fine.
The giant Banner Hospital system is not yet at 80% which is real even for hospitals. In COVID speak 75% at ICUs is full.
Fellow cancer victim went in for Pneumonia and they kept trying to write her up as COVID and she tested negative twice. Its all scam.
they have shut down hospitals... because the demand for health care is so low. Family member and RN. LAYOFFS due to the AZ governors malfeasance...
nothing but all corona all the time...
never trumper az governor.
RN here....hospitals are full because while more people are coming in with the usual stuff, covid cases still come in and take up beds that normally would be empty about 10-15 per cent of the time.
It’s not that the covid cases are 100 per cent of the beds...they are just filling what would normally be empty this time of year and hospitals have opened back up to take in more of the regular cases lest we have increases of deaths due to other categories.
My sister is a nurse and worked for a hospital near Atlanta until she recently moved. She never worked the covid floor. She said the hospital where she worked gave EXPLICIT orders to the nurses that they were NOT to discuss, among each other and other hospital staff, the number of covid patients in that hospital. There was the threat of termination if caught discussing how many covid patients were there, citing HIPPA. How is it protecting anyone’s privacy by saying “Yeah, I had 3 covid patients last night on my floor”?
I heard similar stories of the hospital in my town. For weeks, they REFUSED to give any report of number of covid patients in the hospital. Even medical staff were arguing on FB and in the newspaper comment section. One person would say “My cousin works there and said the hospital is full.” Another would say “I’m a doctor there and I only know of 6 covid patients.”
I have a relative who is a doctor at a hospital in Georgia. He never gave me an exact number, but said the number of covid patients in his hospital was lower than what the news was reporting. And early on, he said ventilators were used as a comfort measure to those who were too far gone, not depended upon to save lives, although SOME people who ended up on a ventilator somehow survived. He did say for weeks they were very short of PPE and were hot-gluing plastic sheeting to make PPE.
