My sister is a nurse and worked for a hospital near Atlanta until she recently moved. She never worked the covid floor. She said the hospital where she worked gave EXPLICIT orders to the nurses that they were NOT to discuss, among each other and other hospital staff, the number of covid patients in that hospital. There was the threat of termination if caught discussing how many covid patients were there, citing HIPPA. How is it protecting anyone’s privacy by saying “Yeah, I had 3 covid patients last night on my floor”?

I heard similar stories of the hospital in my town. For weeks, they REFUSED to give any report of number of covid patients in the hospital. Even medical staff were arguing on FB and in the newspaper comment section. One person would say “My cousin works there and said the hospital is full.” Another would say “I’m a doctor there and I only know of 6 covid patients.”

I have a relative who is a doctor at a hospital in Georgia. He never gave me an exact number, but said the number of covid patients in his hospital was lower than what the news was reporting. And early on, he said ventilators were used as a comfort measure to those who were too far gone, not depended upon to save lives, although SOME people who ended up on a ventilator somehow survived. He did say for weeks they were very short of PPE and were hot-gluing plastic sheeting to make PPE.

I don’t think there are many who could give the same information as it is different depending on who you ask.

I think all of this is just another way to have more control over the people and it’s our turn now.

I’ll be surprised if AZ schools still open on time. Some open the first week of August.
