For those who don’t know, Jenny Durkan is the idiot mayor of the city of Seattle.

I'm not a lawyer, but I have to think that there are business/homeowners in this 'chaz' zone whose Constitutional rights are being denied by the non-enforcement of the law.

Certainly there are real economic and property losses.

Can public officials who do not serve be held personally liable?

If you live in this zone, all you have to do is kill the invaders, seriously, kill all the invaders and you are now king of the Chaz zone.

How can you be charged with murder?

It didn’t happen on US Soil, right?

Silly goose. That might be relevant if the country had a functioning Attorney General and a president who cared about putting criminals away rather than just talking about it.

Pretty sure the courts have ruled long ago that the government has no legal liability if they don’t do their job and protect you.

I'm no lawyer, but the occupiers' claim to have taken control over an area which includes private property, along with their reported efforts to control exit and entry into the area, could possibly be construed as some sort of violation of property rights, or perhaps even as a kind of illegal imprisonment.

Even if they aren't forcibly keeping homeowners in the area, there is kind of implied threat that they might choose to do so, which might fall under some sort of menacing statute.
