Google bans Federalist, ZeroHedge from its advertising platform
The Hill ^ | 06 15 2020 | J. Edward Moreno

Two far-right news sites, ZeroHedge and The Federalist, will no longer be able to generate revenue from any advertisements served by Google Ads, according to NBC News.

The two sites were found to be in violation of Google’s policies on content related to race when they pushed unsubstantiated claims about the Black Lives Matter protests sparked in recent weeks by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody on May 25, NBC reported.

Google did not immediately respond to an inquiry from The Hill.

“We have strict publisher policies that govern the content ads can run on and explicitly prohibit derogatory content that promotes hatred, intolerance, violence or discrimination based on race from monetizing," a Google spokesperson told NBC. "When a page or site violates our policies, we take action. In this case, we’ve removed both sites’ ability to monetize with Google.”

Since the 2016 elections, Google has doubled-down on targeting fake news sites.

The Federalist is pretty mainline conservative media whose writers have a platform on FNC. Google could have gotten away with just targeting Zerohedge but like all radical leftists they had to get greedy and target others.

“Basically, the FTC needs to force open Google’s, Twitter’s and Facebook’s markets, the way it moved on Microsoft, IBM and AT&T. Trump has been.....................”

Well yes but. And the but is that it is not like Trump has not been “distracted” by the constant legal and Congressional onslaught by the deep state and the Dims and their virtual media arm of the actual so-called “free press” who’s merely promoting the Dims agendas.

Google warned The Federalist because of racist and misleading comments. The Federalist doesn't moderate their comment section and Google's advertisers apparently don't want to place ads on sites with that stuff.

It was a warning and if an earlier comment here is accurate it sounds like the Federalist decided the comments weren't worth it and disabled them.

This is exactly why most media sites disable comments. It isn't because they don't want other views aired, it's because they don't want to invest the resources in moderating them and their advertisers don't want to be associated with the cesspools most unmoderated comment sections become.
