Vice President Mike Pence said on Monday that, with the exception of a few places, the United States is seeing strong drops in COVID-19-related hospitalization and mortality rates, attributing the “vast majority” of new cases to a surge in testing.
Speaking at a White House roundtable, Pence said that increased cases of COVID-19 infections in some states were caused by a “dramatic increase in testing.”
“Our team has been working with governors over the past week. We’re carefully analyzing those new cases, and we really believe that the vast majority of new cases is a reflection, as you said, of a dramatic increase in testing,” Pence said, responding to a question from President Donald Trump about nationwide case counts of COVID-19, the disease caused by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) virus.
Trump reinforced the message at the roundtable, saying, “If we stopped testing right now, we’d have very few cases, if any.”
Data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) shows that, nationwide, the positive case rate is falling, though at a slower rate than testing.
Pence, who heads the White House Coronavirus Task Force, called the overall COVID-19 numbers “remarkable,” and in a tweet noted: “With more than 22 million tests performed across America, we’ve seen the overall positive test rate drop dramatically & hospitalizations decline everywhere. We commend the American people for the steps they’ve taken, bringing us to the point where we can safely reopen America.”
The positive test rate Pence referred to is a measure, expressed as a percentage, of the total daily number of virus tests conducted nationwide and of those tests, how many were positive on a given day.

That suggests people are not going to the hospital and therefore must have mild cases not requiring hospitalization. I presume people get tested because they are feeling ill.

What about the 36K that each Hospital receives per positive test? This perverse Incentive alone ensures some hospitals will pursue self interest and declare everything a positive!
No! They need to yell and scream at the top of their lungs that it’s the protesters!!!!!! I’m still confused of hearing it’s the openings. Had that been the case then mid May would have seen spikes in Florida. Nope it’s the protesters!!!!!

It’s a double edge sword. The media is causing a panic because increased testing results, while the deaths and hospitalizations are falling.
We have better treatments, no longer wholesale killing of nursing patients, no longer killing patients on ventilators through unnecessary usaage, and are protecting elderly better. Half of the current death toll was caused by stupidity. Blue state governors are mass murderers.
Think on this, not one, not one person of the age of 25 years died in the state of Florida (22 million people) from COVID-19. More people died over 80 years old than from the ages of 1-65 years old.
Protect the old, use newer treatments (both preventative and cures), stop shoving people on ventilators unnecessarily, and this thing is no worse than a normal flu.

In my neck of the woods, there is no testing center. Anyone wanting to be tested has to go to the city. Anyone sick enough has their doctor request a test sent out from the city.
We had one testing tent back around March for health workers. When they found the first positive, they packed that tent up fast.
Where people are worrying about “spikes” they should watch hospitalizations and deaths, not new cases.
An article in an online news station here in Tulsa said we had seen a spike in confirmed cases. Later in the article it also pointed out we had quadruple our number of testing facilities.

It’s very contagious. Just assume that most of us had it, have it, or soon will have it.
The fatality rate is about .25%...mostly end of life patients.
