Stapleton broke with the Klan in his first term and was excommunicated or whatever they call it.

He also did a lot of good as Mayor, more than just the airport.

He was a veteran of the Philippine Insurrection and along with some Spanish War veterans founded the VFW. He was a member of Post No. 1 in Denver.
