The police edisnt kill him, falling down and hitting his head on a curb could have killed him or he could have just as easily died behind a dumpster in an alley. he died of a heart attack excerbated by illegal drug use , high blood pressure and heart disease. George picked a poor time to fight 4 cops and die.
The Cultural Revolution would make a great and cautionary movie or TV miniseries, but no production company today would dare touch it.
