One Atlanta police officer has been fired and another has been reassigned following Friday night’s shooting death of Rayshard Brooks in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant.
The fired officer was identified as Garrett Rolfe, who had been with the Atlanta Police Department since 2013, WSB-TV of Atlanta reported.
The second officer, identified as Devin Bronsan, was placed on administrative duty, according to the report. Bronsan has been with the department since 2018, a police spokesman told the Associated Press.

The Officers could do themselves a lot of good if they resigned enmass instead of waiting to be picked off one by one. Go into another line of work. I’m sure CNN is (or will be) in full apologist mode for the rioters who beat their crew and broke their camera. “Don, this was a mostly peaceful crowd. They were understandably angry and just letting off steam.”

Yes since they can’t behave this is the logical step right? no arresting them at all, and if they fight you, grab your gun/taser try to use it against you just let them kill you if you’re a cop. Same with private citizen. Better let them surround and beat and kill you because you will wind up being dragged through court, lose your money and job. Blacks gone wild. No repercussions.

In Canada a municipality cannot fire a police officer. An officer must be suspended with pay pending a hearing. We had a case where 2 officers were accused after killing a perp who tried to run them over with his car. Both were exonerated in the criminal trial and the disciplinary hearing. No room for public, politically motivated firings.
If by the police union, you mean the higher ups, they are there to collect a cushy salary, bennies, and pension. Not to protect the rights of their brethren.
The suspect snatches a taser from one of the officers during the fight to apprehend and cuff the suspect. The suspect runs, the officer pursues, then the suspect turns and fires the taser at the officer. Hypothetically, if the taser shot at the officer was successful, the suspect could then disarm the officer and shoot and kill the officer with his own gun. It's a totally justifiable shooting. Black LIES Matter, again!

I’d say the cops brought their guns in slightly early. A taser is used because it is specifically non lethal. There were TWO cops present. Two cops ought to be able to handle one guy with a taser. If after all the perp went for a gun THAT would be the time to pull a gun.
For a long long time now cops have been getting quicker on the trigger, not coincidently as pysical standards have been lowered.
I agree completely. A taser is considered non lethal and the police can tase you for almost any resistance including verbal. How can you then justify using lethal force against someone who shoots at you with a taser? Especially if they have missed you.
If you disable the officer with the taser then you can get his lethal weapon. That is taught in every taser class I have been to - which is at least 10.
