“Since the advent of SWAT the police have morphed from peace officers who trust citizens and see members of the community as the boss to whom they serve to “law enforcers” ( emphasis on force) who see themselves as soldiers with citizens being threats.”

No more calls, folks. We have a winner.

pushing a 75-year-old man who was protesting to the ground, critically injuring him.

I see this "critically" or "critical" descriptor used often in the press, but where is the proof? Just because his ACLU lawyer says so? He was sitting up on the gurney and chatting away on his cell phone right after his "injury."

We also need to get rid of what are known as "quick knock" warrants as well.

A Quick Knock or Quiet Knock, is when the police taps on the door, says "police" in a low voice and then does a forced entry. Whoever is in the home likely did not hear the knock or the announcement and even if they did has no time to respond before a dynamic entry is done.

Although I am in favor of policing the extreme tactic employed by the police in the past three decades has done a great deal of harm in community relations. The impression by the general public is that the police are using wrecking balls to take out flies.

Or in some cases, just a spot on the wall that might have been a fly. Or a spot on the wall that might have been a fly somewhere else but oops we had the wrong address. Silly us! We will send a nice wreath to your funeral. Or maybe just smear your name and reputation from here to Timbuktu so to cover up that we made some little whoop-sees.

“Oh. They’ll just be replaced by other cops. So, nothing’s changed. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss”

Highly unlikely, internal pier pressure (if even needed): will prevent the Swat team positions from being filled internally. No way the city can just add more Cops to fill out a Swat team.

They are still cops. SWAT is a special team.
