They’re using the name because of a Black Lives Matter incident that, for them, is just a moment in time. If it mattered, it would have mattered to them before. It shouldn’t have taken George Floyd to die for them to realize that their name had a slave reference to it.

The blues singer Lady A is actually correct in saying this, which makes the virtue signaling of band Lady Antebellum all the more disappointing.

This is really taking the "woke" silliness to a whole new level. This is nothing but a lightweight "soft country" act whose string of hits would have been welcome on early 1980s adult contemporary radio. Air Supply with a twang. Nobody was ever accusing them of being insensitive just because they had "antebellum" in their band name.

They just figured they'd proactively "bend a knee" and show everybody how virtuous they are. Well this came back to bite them in the butt.

Never bend a knee to the rage mob. Never!
