I’m coming to the conclusion that I’m ok with removing things that are reminders of a South that allowed slaves. It doesn’t affect our lives. I can understand blacks not wanting those things to be part of the symbolism of who/what America is.
On the other hand, there’s no reason for Blacks to be ashamed of or wish to erase their history as slaves. The slaves had no choice. Many people have suffered greatly and not felt ashamed of it. Christ comes to mind.
So they shouldn't have any problem with replacing them with Union Generals, right?

I’ve lived in the South all of my life. I have never considered owning a Confederate flag, nor did I ever dwell on the Confederacy or the Civil War.
But watching the violent, wanton destruction of Confederate monuments and symbols, I’m considering purchasing one. Just for the purpose of giving the leftist iconoclasts the middle finger.
