NASCAR will no longer require its teams to stand during the national anthem. Instead, drivers and team members will be allowed to engage in peaceful protest.
According to NBC sports’ Dustin Long, “NASCAR eliminated the guidelines before last weekend’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. NASCAR official Kirk Price knelt during the invocation and raised a fist. Price, who served on active duty in the U.S. Army for three years, remained kneeling during the anthem while he saluted the flag.”
Bubba Wallace, the sports only full-time black driver, called Price’s protest a “powerful move.”
“If I would have seen it, I would have went there and stood next to him, kneeled next to him because it’s such a powerful move,” Wallace told CNN. “A man, an incredible man, who has served our country, kneeling down. People think it’s disrespecting the flag and going against our military, and it’s definitely not.
“I was so uneducated what the kneeling meant when it started but now reading about it and what it stands for … and I’m still doing a lot of learning myself, don’t get me wrong, I don’t know everything about what’s going on in the world but that’s what we are trying to deliver the message. Listen and learn to be able to better educate ourselves.”
Wallace is set to race Wednesday night in a No. 43 car adorned with a #BlackLivesMatter paint scheme.

NASCAR fans who display the Confederate flag, and those who don’t but are offended that NASCAR has embraced “BLM values,” need to stage their own protest. Show up with red hammer-and-sickle flags and BLM flags. Burn them during the National Anthem. Then go home, for good.
Sounds like NASCAR is true to form and doing nothing but turning left.
Do you really think college football will be a holdout? Cmon man, those are the indoctrination factories.
Not since senior died.
NFL is off my list. NHL is off the list...Philadelphia Flyers took down the Kate Smith statue. NBA was.never really on my list. They definitely lost me with the Chinese thing. MLB still on... thankfully they haven’t been too political. NASCAR? Don’t care anyway...they can all just go to hell. I am so glad I don’t waste my life on professional sports. I do enjoy Christian McCaffrey ramming the ball down the all black defenses throats thoigh. Apparently he’s magic thoigh...only white guy capable of running the ball (O know he’s not...just the only one who gets a chance due to institutional racism in college sports
Wait a minute... I forgot shooting from the kneeling position... That means I can remember three reasons...not two...
GOODBYE NASCAR.....!!!
let me tell ya ANY NASCAR team that kneels will forever be the bad guy. Boos will reign down upon them wherever they show up.
HOw’s it going there Bubba? Getting lots of lucre’ from the mob? BOOOOO.
Attending the games is first on the list. More important is not buying any fan goods and then not being a customer of any of the advertisers. It is not a boycott, it is a shop-out.
Stay away from the sport if it politicizes their product.
The players actions are another sore spot. Stop talking about games, plays, scores or standings. Believe it, I missed last season’s NFL, have no idea who placed where and who the Super Bowl teams were. Avoid them like the plague.
We’ll see what the owners do, besides crying the blues.
Kirk Price, keep pounding on that wedge that the blacks are driving between whites and blacks, unraveling years of progress in race relations. Your fellow blacks may cheer you but they only contribute to the hammering on that wedge.
We’ll see how that works out for you.
I’ll be 70 in 2 months. Been a NASCAR fan since birth. I”m done. Also member of NASCAR Fan Council for years. (Apparently they have low admission standards.) I’ll speak my piece and depart until someone with a functioning brain resets how they present NASCAR races to fans. Stand for the Flag and the Anthem. Kneel for Jesus. And race. Very simple.
