I’m seriously thinking about starting a Blu-Ray collection and buying the classics before they get censored or removed.

Do it privately and with cash.

In 5 years they’ll be doing no knock raids for these videos if there’s a record of your purchase.

Not kidding.

I’ve already built enough of a movie, TV, and music library to last me the rest of my life. The entertainment industries can go pound sand. The only thing they’ll understand is loss of revenue, but too many conservatives seem hell-bent on looking at their own situation and not the overall picture. Just look at the NFL. Most conservatives eventually returned, particularly last season.

***before they get censored or removed.***
Censorship of movies shown on TV began in late 1968 “to remove violence.” Movies from the 1940s-to now were hacked to pieces lest someone might be offended.

BUT, movies for the screen got a different treatment. With the Hays Code dead in 1968, they reshot scenes adding more blood, guts and sex on the big screen. When shown on commercial TV, they were hacked to pieces. sometimes the butchery was actually funny if you had seen the original production.

SO FAR Turner Classic Movies (TCM Channel) still runs all of these "controversial" movies, including Birth of a Nation, and just about all movies that contain both whites and blacks (!) in blackface.

Hubby and I just saw an interesting old movie with an all black cast on TCM (I believe it was 'Stormy Weather' with Lena Horne). One or two of the black cast members were in blackface makeup when doing an on-stage performance in the movie. Yeah, I'm still confused over that, lol.

The TCM commentators provide historical explanations (and offer some opinions) about how blackface and themes in movies like 'Birth of a Nation', etc. originated, which is far better than banning these movies outright, IMO.
